| Twin Lakes are the
largest glacier lakes in Colorado and because of their beauty,
this area has been a tourist destination since the 1860s. The
area is a center for fishing, hiking and biking, as well as
being on the Colorado Trail. This National Historic Site is
surrounded by 14,000 foot peaks including Mt. Elbert to the
north, the highest mountain in Colorado. The site includes the
Interlaken Hotel historic site and the charming Twin Lakes Village.
